AWARDS.

BACKGROUND TO NBFT AWARDS

The NBFT Awards was instituted to recognize and reward outstanding deeds and contributions to the development of the book industry in Nigeria. It is also aimed at encouraging excellence and promoting quality service delivery in the publishing sector with the intent to engender growth and standards that will make publishing in the country competitive as well as comparative with any printed work anywhere in the world.

The maiden edition was presented in 2003 and since then, it has been annual in different categories.

JURY

There are juries for the different categories of the award. The jury review entries and recommend for the Awards Committee set up by the NBFT. The Awards Committee in turn, reports to the Board of the Nigerian Book Fair Trust, which would ratify the nominee(s) as the case may be.

Call for entries for the awards are advertised in the dailies. For the Idris Animasahun Book Printer of the Year Award, letters were sent to publishing and printing houses in the country.

QUALIFICATION

The awards are for both individuals (living or dead) and institutions.
